| Ensure best facilities to Amarnath yatries: Shabir to officers | | Inaugurates 14-day camp on ‘World Population Day’ | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 11 : Minister of State for Health Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan today impressed upon the government functionaries to gear up men and machinery to make available all basic facilities including regular power, safe drinking water, sanitation, healthcare, transport, security, langar besides accommodation to the Shri Amarnath yatries at Jammu base camp, yatri niwas Bhagwati Nagar. During his visit to the base camp at Yatri Niwas here today, the Minister took stock of the arrangements made by the district administration for the visiting Shri Amarnathji Yatries . The Minister went round Yatri Niwas complex and inspected the lodging and other facilities put in place for the yatries. He impressed upon the concerned officers to make sure that yatries do not face any problem at the Jammu base camp and other stations . The Minister asked the CA&PD department to conduct regular market inspections to keep a check on the quality of eatables and rates. He asked the department to take strict action against those found overcharging or selling sub-standard food items. He hoped that this year’s Yatra will be a grand success. Health Minister also inspected the working of health centre at the Yatra Niwas and directed the Medical and para-medical staff to remain present round the clock and provide best Medicare services to the yatries. He asked them to ensure availability of sufficient stocks of the medicine at the base camp. The Minister said that the Government was determined to ensure smooth conduct of the annual yatra, besides ensuring all necessary services to the devotees. Later, the Minister also inaugurated 14-day long camp held in connection with the ‘World Population Day’ here at Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Director, AIDS Control Society, Dr. Madhu Khullar, Mission Director NRHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Medical Superintendent Dr. Romesh Gupta, Deputy Director(Hq) Health, Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma besides other medical and para-medical staff members were present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Health Minister asked the departmental functionaries to provide best possible health facilities to the ailing persons. He said Government is making all out efforts to equip the hospitals with latest infrastructure in every nook and corner of the State. He said there was no constraint of funds under health sector and it was being strengthened under a comprehensive plan. Mr. Khan said that the Government has decided to make provision of Indian System treatment at all community Health and New Primary Health Centers to further promote ISM in the State. He said in this regard a proposal for creation of posts, including ISM medicos, Para-medicos was under consideration of the State Government. He said another proposal has been submitted to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare seeking permission to engage ISM staff in new primary health centers in the State under NRHM. The Minister said that highly effective ISM treatment has already been introduced in all district hospitals besides Primary Health Centers to provide alternate choice of treatment to the people of the State. Mr Shabir said that health has been flagged as priority sector and concerted efforts are under way to open new health centers in uncovered hilly areas of the State. He said that the proposal moved by the state government in this regard was under active consideration of the centre. |
