| Kichloo reviews water supply scenario in Kishtwar | | Asks PHE to step up tanker service, expedite work on Naigad WWS | | KISHTWAR: The Minister of state for Industries and Commerce, Home, R&B , MED, HUDD, Tourism and Culture, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo reviewed the drinking water supply scenario here today and asked the concerned functionaries to take every step to ensure that the people may not suffer due to lack of this essential amenity. Chairing a meeting here today to discuss the remedial measures to overcome the water scarcity problem in the town, the minister asked the PHE functionaries to expedite the pace of work on the Naigad Water Supply scheme and in the meantime step up the supply of water through tankers in water stressed areas. Deputy Commissioner, Saleem Mohammad, other senior civil and police officers besides prominent civil society members, Panchayat representatives and other Social activists attended the meeting. The Minister asked the district administration to work in coordination to speed up work on core sector projects, including the Water Supply Schemes and creation of supporting infrastructure to run these schemes. Responding to the points raised by the PHE functionaries, the minister asked the Power Development Department (PDD) to procure transformers and other equipment to ensure uninterrupted working of existing Water Lift Scheme. He asked the district administration to use every means at their disposal to ensure adequate and better civic amenities to the people. He reiterated that government was committed to provide safe drinking water in every area of the state and asked the concerned officers to understand responsibility and ensure this basic facility to people. He enquired about all the related aspects and progress on Naigad Water Supply Scheme and directed the officials to expedite the work on this prestigious project. The Minister further asked the PHE department to setup an exclusive helpline and control room to record the public complaints about water supply and also take steps to streamline and rationalize the water supply in the town. Apart this, the Minister instructed R&B department to start the blacktopping work on all the roads in the town, besides take up work to improve the drainage system and lanes . He also directed the district administration to hold quarterly Public Grievance redressal camps. |
