Don't heed rumors: Police
7/22/2013 12:56:21 AM
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has warned people not to fall prey to rumor mongering especially on the social networking sites and by word of mouth while appealing to the masses to exercise restraint and work towards restoration of peace.
The appeals were issued by the police after a fresh mischief came to light in Ganderbal area of central Kashmir. According to reports a strong rumor was spread about the mischief inside a local religious place and the same triggered protests in the area.
Police swung in to action and gathered vital inputs to contain the law and order situation. Before police came in to the picture residents of Saloora and adjoining areas in Ganderbal took to the streets after word spread about the incident last night.
A police spokesman said two persons behind the incident have been identified.
"A case has been registered and investigation has been started. Initial investigations revealed that two drug addicts of the village were involved in the act," the spokesman said.
