UDHAMPUR, Aug 9: Udhampur Development Council (UDC) an NGO expressed anguish and deep concern over the worsening scenario of Udhampur town. Addressing a press conference here today General Secretary, Parvesh Parihar said whole town is full of pits and holes, sanitary system of town is in shambles and local residents are facing lot of hardship in this rainy season.
"Waterlogged roads and streets of the town led to many accidents in these rainy days, poor lightning system in town has compounded the problems," he said. Anil Paba, president UDC said that due to increase of traffic in town there is dire need of overhead bridges at MH chowk, Slathia chowk, Venus Chowk, Happy Model School near Shiv Nagar, Omara, Army public school Sr. wing crossing, housing colony crossing.
He demanded parking zones in and around the Udhampur town and suggested to shift Girls Hr Sec, School Gole market to some other place and construct well planned parking their.. UDC demanded from authorities at the helm of affairs to awake from deep slumber and face lift Udhampur town by constructing 'Yatri Bhawan' on the bank of river Devika, so that the Devaknagari can be reflected on tourism map and it can also serve as base camp for Amarnath pilgrims |
