| Additional Army to be deployed to check militant ingress on border | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 9: Additional companies of troops have been deployed in the highly sensitive and ingress prone areas on the LOC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir. This step has been taken to enable the Army to plug all the conventional and non-conventional infiltration routes following reports that Pakistani troops have framed a plan for pushing groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir under heavy fire cover. Official sources said that a decision has been taken to upgrade the foot patrolling system so that Pak soldiers were not in a position to ambush Indian patrol parties. According to these sources the Army has increased foot patrolling and the number of soldiers in some areas has been increased to effectively face the possible attacks of border action teams of the Pakistani army. Field commanders have been directed to take adequate steps for checking infiltration of militants and every possible means be explored to ensure that not a single militant or Pak soldiers sneaked into the Indian border area for carrying out Tuesday type killings. |
