8/28/2013 10:13:58 PM

Early Times Report

Samba, Aug 28: Senior Congress Leader Dr. Sat Paul expressed serious concern over the damage caused to infrastructure of Devak Bandh on Eastern side of Devak River due to recent rains.
He said that flash floods in the Devak River has caused more damage to the Devak Bandh and a portion of Bandh from 1500 RD to 1730 RD has been completely washed away which has lead to erosion of about 15 Kanals of land where paddy crop had been cultivated. He further said that the flood water is flowing into the fields thus causing more damage to crops as well as land without crops. Earlier, floods in 2011 had washed away the Bandh on the Eastern side of Devak near Bridge which has damaged about 600 acres of land.
Dr. Sat Paul requested the DC Samba to take effective steps to prevent demining of Devak and Basanter Rivers and demanded adequate compensation to those whose crop had damaged in rains. Prominent among others who were present included Sarpanch Zorawar Singh, Naib Sarpanch Kuldip Raj, Panch Girdhara Singh, Mukhtayar Singh, Capt. Attar Chand and many others.
