As already reported on first day Gandhi commission examined 35 witnesses, on 2nd day cross examined 33 witnesses and on 3rd day cross examines another 26 witnesses. The sources said that Commission will also summon the top army officers including Commandant 17 RR in future as during the course of the investigation, it comes to the fore that army party led by commandant 17 RR J S Lehar rescued the MOS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and DC after facing tough resistance from rioters at around 1.30 PM on August 9. Both Kichloo and former DC Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary took refuge inside a private house adjacent to Dak Banglow after scaling over 10 feet back wall of the Dak Banglow. Both decided to leave the Dak Banglow after rioters unsuccessfully tried to force entry into the room where they had taken refuge and during this rioters also tried to trigger a gas cylinder blast, but luckily the LPG cylinder did not blast. The commission has already taken up the issue of violations of SOP of MOS Home as the minister lacks security as per the protocol. Meanwhile, former MOS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo had a sigh of relief as no witness deposed against him till date and he (Kichloo) is likely to get clean chit from the commission It is pertinent to mention here that on August 23, 2013 government nominated former High Court Judge, Justice (Retd) RC Gandhi as Commission of Inquiry to enquire into the August 9 communal clashes and subsequent incidents of violence in Kishtwar in one month, but on September 27, 2013 government of Jammu and Kashmir give extension to the Commission to probe the Kishtwar violence.
