Jammu, Nov 20: A civilian was killed while an army Havaldar sustained critical injuries in a mysterious explosion in an army unit established at Nagrota in outskirt of winter capital."The deceased has been identified as Sanjeev Barru, (42) of Korejagir, Nagrota, police sources said, further adding that injured Army Havaldar ATS Mohanty who has been hospitalized at Military Hospital Jammu."The deceased had been working as a painter with army deployment at Nagrota for the last 20 years, sources said.Sources added that victim under the suppression of Army Havaldar was doing cleaning work of a ammunition segment at Ammunition Depot, Nagrota (ASD) 15FAD, when one of explosive 81mm mortar illuminating bomb exploded. Confirming the incident Defence Ministry Spokesman Jammu said that in a mysterious explosion at army unit at Nagrota one civilian Sanjeev Kumar Barru, (42), Nagrota died on spot while Army Havaldar Mohanty who suffered critical burn injuries has been hospitalized at Military Hospital Jammu
Soon after the incident a police team of Nagrota Police Station rushed to the spot and a case in this connection has been registered while investigation has taken up. |
