| Drivers go on strike after their colleague held for 'eve teasing' | | | Et Report Jammu, Nov 20: The transportation between Ambphalla- Bathindi remained paralyzed as drivers of the said route went on strike following the arrest of one of the drivers for teasing a girl student. According to reports one driver identified namely as namely Sonu of Bathindi was booked by Nowabad Police after some girl students lodged their resentment with the Inspector General of Police Jammu Rajesh Kumar alleging one of their fellow student was being teased by the driver of a matador bearing registration number JK02AN/2034. Acting on the complaint, IGP passed on directions to Nowabad Police to arrest the driver for 'eve teasing' the girl and accordingly the police apprehended the driver who was booked under section 294 RPC. Soon after the detention of the driver, the driver union of Ambphalla-Bathindi route went on strike alleging their companion was booked without verifying the fact. However the unauthorized strike on the part of the drivers made the daily commuters on the route to suffer badly. During the daylong development the accused was later bailed out. Meanwhile, a senior police officer when contacted said that the drivers were using pressure technique to shield their companion. He however appreciated the daring students to bring fore the criminal activities against them by some psycho- elements. |
