Kishtwar, Nov 20:- Justice Retired R C Gandhi commission appointed by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to probe into August 9th Kishtwar communal violence during his 4th visit to Kishtwar cross examined 96 witnesses in last three days and thus cross examined 228 persons till date.
As per the details on 18th of November, Gandhi commission examined 34 witnesses out of 37 summoned and on 19th November cross examined 28 witnesses out of 37 summoned and today cross examined another 32 witnesses out of 42 summoned.
However during last three days, Gandhi commission rejected 22 affidavits on account of their failure to appear before the commission despite repeated summons. Meanwhile while appearing before the said commission, some people have denied that they have submitted any affidavits and refuse to acknowledge the affidavits submitted on their names and hence the commission also rejected those affidavits.
Taking cognizance in this regard the one man commission summoned a local notary who attested the affidavits without following the required procedure as few affidavits bears notary attestation but lacks the signature of the deponent. Commission also advised not to repeat such misadventure. The commission is expected to cross examine witnesses tomorrow also.
Meanwhile National Conference District President Kishtwar Imtiyaz Ahmed Zarger while deposing before the commission slams SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal for framing his minor son and declared him as absconder.
In a similar case, the parents of Adil Aslam framed in a murder case also depose before the commission and accuse SIT of framing their son in a false case.
Pertinently on this August 23rd state government nominated former High Court Judge, Justice (Retd) RC Gandhi as Commission of Inquiry to enquire into the August 9 communal clashes and subsequent incidents of violence in Kishtwar but on September 27th Government further extended the tenure of Commission to enquire into the circumstances which led to the violence and arson and the consequent loss of life and property in Kishtwar.
