| Bhaderwah residents decry acute shortage of kerosene oil | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, Dec 10: Several residents of Bhaderwah, who use kerosene for cooking are facing hurdles due to acute shortage of kerosene. A depot operator wishing anonymity told that since they got only 1000 liters of kerosene in a month. "It is difficult to ensure supply of all the families. government has fixed five liters of oil per family. In our locality there are around 1000 households and given the supply we get from the consumer and public distribution department, it is hard to provide kerosene oil to all the consumers", he said. He further said that the fact that the consumer and public distribution department has given permits to many entrepreneurs but they didn't get their allotted quota on regular basis, which has been adding to pressure on them. He suggested that government should cancel the permits of those kerosene oil depot operators who didn't get their allotted quota on regular basis. Satya Devi, a resident of Khakhal locality said, "We don't know, whether government has given permission to any entrepreneur to run a Kerosene oil depot in our area as from the last so many year we are not getting even a drop of kerosene". TSO Bhaderwah Farooq Ahmed Keemu admitted that there were some problems with the distribution of Kerosene. "Transparency is lacking in the distribution system. We are coming up with new policy for the distribution of Kerosene oil and hopefully by the end of next month we will start issuing coupons to consumers", he said. |
