| LMD conducts inspection at garment store in posh locality | | | Et Report Jammu, Dec 10: Acting swiftly on the complaint of a consumer regarding sale of local made garments by putting branded names by a leading garment store at Gandhinagar, a team of officers of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted inspection & booked the trader under different provisions of law enforced for the purpose. According to Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller Consumer Protection, a consumer complaint that he had purchased some garments from the said dealer however he got suspicious about the genuineness of the quality and approached to said dealer for returning the same articles. "Inspite of repeated request the said dealer refused to return the goods on the grounds that in bill has already been mentioned that goods once sold will not be returned, official quoting complainant said and added afterwards trader resorted to adopt the means of restrictive trade practice by stressing the customer to purchase another goods from him. Following the complaint, the Legal Metrology officers conducted inspection of the shop & found large number of non branded garments tagged with brands like ADIDAS, GUCI & other brands of high repute. "The said items were tagged with mandatory declaration like MRP, Address of the manufacturer , consumer helpline numbers etc, official said, adding, "the dealer also failed to produce bills for the said purchases and thus all the deceptive garments were seized & trader was accordingly booked. |
