| DC reviews ‘National Voters Day’ preparations | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Jan 2 : In view of upcoming National Voters Day on January 25, 2014, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Jitendra K Singh convened a meeting of officers to discuss the preparedness for the national event in DC Office complex here at Kathua. Threadbare discussion was held on the need and importance of National Voters Day and creating awareness among the masses. DC Kathua directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and Block Development Officers to convene meetings with panchs, sarpanchs, chowkidar, lambardars, ASHA and Angadwadi workers of all the panchayats alongwith booth level officers to mark the Voters Day by organising rallies, symposium and distribution of EPIC cards of the newly registered voters at pancha-yats and booth level. The meeting also decided that an inter-college symposium on the theme on Right to Vote will be held in the Kathua town whereas students drawn from senior secondary schools will stage a rally in the town to educate the people about their right to franchise. He added that special cultural programme featuring Nukkad Naataks and other solo performances will also be the main feature on the National Voters Day on January 25, 2014. Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the officers the need to adopt innovative mediums to sensitize the masses about their right to vote and its importance in the election process. He directed the Block Development Officers to inform the people through drum beating especially in remote areas of the blocks. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Assistant Commissioner (Dev) Kathua, SDM Billawar, Bani, Tehsildar Kathua, Hiranagar, BDO Kathua, Principals of Govt. Degree College Kathua, Govt. Degree College (Women) Kathua and others were also present on the occasion. |
