Anantnag, Jan 2: Disaster preparedness and tall claims of the administration in South Kashmir stand exposed as the authorities failed to restore inter-district road connectivity.
Pertinent to mention heavy snowfall on December 31 and January 1 had thrown life out of gear in Kashmir.
Reports said that authorities failed to clear snow on all leading roads connecting several rural areas like Kokernag-Anantnag, Verinag-Anantnag, Dooru Shahabad-Anantnag, Khiram Sirhama-Anantnag, Haptnar-Aishmuqam. Similar reports are pouring from Kulgam, Shopian and pulwama districts of South Kashmir.
They said that administration even failed to restore the inter-connectivity of Anantnag town and on 3rd day after snowfall Danter Anantnag only two kilometers away from the district headquarter remained cut off.
Inability of administration to restore the connectivity of rural areas are creating immense problems for patients, forcing residents to carry patients especially the delivery cases in charpaies to nearby hospitals.
People residing in different villages of Kokernag told Early Times that administration has not took any step till today to clear snow covered roads and said that on this day traffic wasn't restored on Anantnag-Kokernag road. Similarly there was no traffic plying on Anantnag verinag road, Bijbehara Langnabal raod and Anantnag Pahalgam road witnessed few vehicles playing over it.
Reports from Kulgam said that administration hasn't been able to restore the interior connectivity of rural areas like Damhal Hanjipora, Devsar and interior roads of Kulgam town. Residents of Bathigalan, Shalipora, Katrsoo etc informed that they continue to remain cut off from the main town.
Residents of Dozens of rural areas in Anantnag and Kulgam informed that administration has also failed to restore electricity and water in these areas.
