Heavy snowfall diminishes chances of infiltration: Police
1/2/2014 10:28:12 PM

Baramulla, Jan 2 : Deputy Inspector General North Kashmir today said that heavy snowfall along Line of Control has come as a great breather to security agencies as the possibility of infiltration has diminished to a great extent. DIG North Kashmir J.P. Singh said that due to heavy snowfall there are no chances of infiltration along Gurez, Keran, Gulmarg, and Nowgam sectors this winter. He however said that Uri sector did not witness too much snowfall and militants may use that sector to infiltrate into this part of Kashmir. "Security agencies are alert and are in no mood to take any chances," he said adding that there are at least 40 militants active in North Kashmir amoung which some top commanders are from Hizbul Mujhadeen.
Singh said that at least 6 top rank militants are active in North Kashmir's Sopore town while police and security agencies are trying their best to neutralize them so that the town could be made militancy free zone. "Militants keep on changing their hideouts but police has efficient intelligence network and are capable to track them," he said.
