| Thathri fire: Four houses beside six shops gutted | | | early times report Kishtwar, Jan 2: In a devastating fire incident in main Market of Thatri town of Doda, four residential complexes beside six shops were completely gutted during midnight of Jan 1. As per the reports, the fire broke out due to short circuit in one of the gutted shop which later engulfed the four residential complexes owned by Bashir Ahmed Butt, Shabir Ahmed Butt, Nazir Ahmed Butt all sons of Nasrullah Butt and Bilal Ahmed, beside the house of Dr. Raiz Ahmed Zarger as a result of which property worth over Rs crore were reduce to ashes. Bashir Ahmed Butt President of Beopar Mandal Thatri suffered massive losses, while other shopkeepers namely Mohammed Rafi (Cosmetic shop), Nazir Ahmed Butt (Readymade garments) Javed Ahmed (utensils store) also suffered huge losses. "As soon as the news of the fire incident spread in the Thatri, the army jawans from 8 RR, police and locals rushed to spots and started fire fighting operation. As the fire tenders from Kishtwar and Doda district headquarters failed to reach to spot due to road blockades after heavy snowfall, army called in reinforcement of 3 officers and a team of juniors equipped with fire browsers, Casper vehicles for focus light. During the hectic fire fighting operation, army used all its recourses to pump water from river Chenab to douse the flames. The locals have hailed the efforts of army in protecting the life and property of the people. |
