Avinash Azad Jammu, Jan 25: Department of Medical Education had the last laugh in its sustained tug of war with Medical Superintendent of the Super Specialty Hospital Dr. Riaz Ahmad who had secured a stay against his transfer order from the SSH 10 days ago, when he was put under suspension today with allegations of financial irregularities. Well placed sources informed Early Times that the ME Department today placed Dr Reyaz Ahmad, Medical Superintendent and Vivek Singh Purchase Clerk under suspension. "The duo was suspended following financial irregularities noticed by the department", sources said, adding that taking cognizance of alleged irregularities duo have been attached to the office of Principal Government Medical College, Jammu. An inquiry has also been ordered by the ME department to dig-up facts. "Two member committee comprising Special Secretary to ME department and Chief Accounts Officer, CAO, GMC Jammu will inquire into the issue", sources divulged, adding that the committee was asked to submit its report within three weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that the High Court on January 16, had stayed the transfer order of Medical Superintendent Super Specialty Hospital Jammu till next date of hearing with the direction that Dr Reyaz shall continue at his present assignment. However, vide Government Order No. 21-ME of 2014 dated January 8, 2014, Dr Reyaz was transferred from the Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu and directed to report to the Principal, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu, till further orders and Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal, Incharge Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College, Jammu has been directed to hold the additional charge of the post of Medical Superintendent, Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu. The court had also issued notice to Chief Secretary, Minister of Medical Education and others returnable within two weeks. |
