| Ramzan admits printing ration cards in Hindi | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 12: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan today admitted that the department had got them printed for Hindi speaking belt of Jammu and Kashmir. Ration cards were printed in Hindi to facilitate people of Hindi speaking parts of Jammu region, said the Minister while replying to a calling attention notice by Dr. Shehnaz Ganai in the Legislative Council. He clarified that ration cards have not been issued by the CAPD Department in Hindi across the State. Minister said that Ration Cards are being printed in a bilingual format with Urdu and English languages for Kashmir region in the year 2012-13 in general and Hindi and English languages in particularly for Kathua, Samba, Udhampur and Jammu districts through J&K Bank Ltd. He said these Ration Cards were printed on the basis of samples of Ration Cards provided by the respective Directors of CA&PD of both the divisions on cost sharing proportion of 60:40 and were distributed among the rationees through the field agencies of the department. Choudhary Ramzan said that no new Ration Card has been issued by the department for the year 2014-15. He said that the Directorate of CA&PD, Jammu had forwarded the samples of old ration cards of APL, BPL and AAY categories to J&K Bank for printing of Ration Cards in the year 2012-13 in Hindi and English for Jammu province. Minister said that due to some dispatch error of sponsoring agency, the Ration cards printed in Hindi- English version got delivered at couple of places in the State instead of Urdu - English cards. He said that the issue was immediately sorted out by the Department by retrieving such printed cards in Hindi and were replaced by the bilingual cards in Urdu and English, adding that the cards so retrieved were subsequently delivered in the districts of Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Udhampur. |
