JAMMU, Feb 12: Legislators of Jammu and Kashmir legislative council today unanimously demanded their inclusion as members in the tourism development authorities across the state. Chairman of the legislative council directed Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmed Mir to consider demand of MLCs for being included as members in the board of the tourism development authorities. Mir agreed and said that necessary amendments would be made in the act and MLCs would be made members of the Tourism Development Authorities (TDAs). The issue was raised by Jehangir Mir, Syed Rafiq Shah, Muzaffar Parrey, Jugal Kishore, Abdul Majid Bhat, Ravinder Sharma, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai and Khalid Najeeb Surharwardhy also raised supplementaries. Earlier, Mir said that the project 'Development of Bhaderwah, Thatri, Bhalessa Tourist Circuit' has been sanctioned by Union Ministry of Tourism during current financial year at a cost of Rs. 784 lakh, out of which Rs. 156.80 lakh has been released for implementation to be done by Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA). The information was given by the Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir while replying to a question by Naresh Kumar Gupta in the Legislative Council today. Mir further informed that the work on Lakhanpur-Bani Basholi-Sarthal Tourist Circuit and Bhaderwah-Kishtwar-Simthan-Srinagar Tourist Circuit has been taken up and major components have been completed, whereas the remaining works would be completed soon. He said a project for construction of infrastructure for various tourist destinations at Bhaderwah-Thatri-Gondoh has been submitted to Government of India for approval. Jehangir Mir, Syed Rafiq Shah, Muzaffar Parrey, Jugal Kishore, Abdul Majid Bhat, Ravinder Sharma, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai and Khalid Najeeb Surharwardhy also raised supplementaries. |
