Srinagar, Feb 12 : People in Kashmir are likely to suffer from tomorrow as after protesting in various Hospitals across the Kashmir today against what they called the callous attitude of state government in handling the issue of sexual assault attempt by Former Health Minister, The Doctors association Kashmir (DAK) said that they would shut down all the Hospitals from tomorrow as a mark of protest.
Doctors and paramedics at various hospitals across Kashmir today demonstrated against the deceptive attitude of government to arrest the former Health Minister, Shabir Khan who is accused of molesting a lady doctor last month in civil secretariat, besides the amalgam consisting of field Doctors Welfare Association, Health and Family Employees Welfare Confederation, Society Of Consultant Doctors, JK Dental Surgeons Society, JK State Contractual Doctors Association, NRHM Doctors (MBBS & AYUSH) Association, Doctors and Patients Welfare Association wore black bands on their heads and shoulders for the whole day across various hospitals of the valley.
According to DAK spokesperson, the protestors at various district hospitals protested failure of the government to arrest the former minister.
Shabir Ahmad Khan is on the run and it seems that police has no clue about him and his security guards cover. "We will firmly stand behind our colleague till justice is not delivered.
It seems the ex-minister has been provided hideout by the government itself as otherwise a man living under security cover cannot give an easy slip to state police." spokesperson said .
The amalgam in their meeting today decided that they have been forced to agitate with intensity and drag the attention of national democratic institutions to secure justice for the victim and warned that if the culprit is not arrested immediately without any 'cosmetic' delay, doctors will expedite the ongoing agitation with closing of health offices and hospitals from 1 pm on tomorrow.
Pertinently as the former Health Minister, Shabir khan is believed to be hiding somewhere in Jammu, however according to the details received, Shabir Ahmad Khan who resigned after a lot of public hue and cry is not hiding alone, but the security guards posted for his security are also hiding with him, thereby raising doubts in the minds of people.
