| "Prince of Wales" celebrates Annual Day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 1: After a yawning decade long gap, G.G.M. Science College Jammu celebrated a mesmerizing Annual Day Function wherein Mohd Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education was the Chief Guest and Ashok Khajuria, MLA Jammu East, graced the function as Guest of Honour. Addressing the participants on this occasion, the Chief Guest emphasized the need for introduction of job oriented courses in the colleges to fulfill the aspirations of all the stakeholders in higher education. The Minister, while congratulating the participating students in different cultural activities, advised the students at large to be God fearing and take part in extracurricular activities within the bounds of morality. Ashok Khajuria, MLA Jammu East in his address suggested the students to opt for urdu as one of the subjects in order to brighten their employment prospects in the state. Dr. N K Resutra, the Principal of the College, in his welcome address detailed out the achievements in academics and co-curricular activities while drawing a vision based roadmap for future developmental plans of the college. On this occasion the Chief Guest distributed prizes among the students who had excelled in academics, sports, NCC and NSS, besides releasing the Newsletter of The Nature's Saviours Club of the College. Earlier the Chief Guest, after being accorded the Guard of Honour by the NCC unit, inaugurated the smart Class, that is the state of the art, replete with all the requisite facilities for teaching through ICT and PG English Block. The Hon'ble Minister also laid the foundation stone of Heritage Gallery of the college. The attraction of the programme was the cultural activities presented by the students of the college that included Dogri Dance, Modelling, Hip - Hop, Gujrati Dandia and Punjabi Bhangra. Programme was compered by Virender Singh, Taranjeet Kour Monika Bhau, Shivali Sharma and Amit Gupta. |
