Ex-servicemen hail 'one rank one pension' announcement

Jammu, Mar 1: Welcoming the announcement, granting 'One Rank One Pension' by Govt of India, the members of the Ex-Services League on a meeting expressed its concerns over not granting any relief in VAT nor implemented other decisions like enrollment of Ex-Servicemen in Police under reservations etc.
The members of the Executive Committee in the meeting held today under the leadership of Wg Cdr Ganga Singh Chib, General Secretary, J&K Ex-Services League hailed the grant of 'One Rank One Pension' which has taken many years. Members observed that they should use right votes to pressurize the J&K Govt to get demands of the ex-servicemen in the coming elections for which it was decided to create awareness among the Ex-servicemen and the Soldiers and their families to vote for the party which will meet their legitimate demands of VAT Relief, Reservation including enrollment in Police, Handing over of Land for Sainik Colonies, Revival of Sainik Vanaspati Cooperative and other demands. They also decided to request the Election Commissioner J&K to arrange for the voting by Serving Soldiers posted in the State who will be approached to vote for the cause of the Ex-Servicemen of the State.
The members also appreciated the excellent results achieved by Lakshya Defence Academy Patti, Samba and congratulated its Director, Brig Raj Singh Jamwal for achieving 52% success in the Interviews where 14 trainees out of 27 have passed Officers Selection Boards, 11 of them in February this year alone while as 24 out of 33 (72%) have been selected as Soldiers. Gen Jamwal President of the League conveyed his appreciation and also exhorted the Ex-servicemen and youth of the State to take full advantage of training being given by this Academy instead of using unfair means for seeking employment. The Ex-servicemen also decided to request the Army Authorities to hold Recruitment Rally at Badherwah and request the Divisional commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Doda for naming the Road Badherwah - Jai as Shaheed Chunni Lal Marg in the memory of the Martyr Nb Sub Chunni Lal, Ashok Chakra, Veer Chakra and Sena Medal of 8 JAK LI.
