Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 1: National Secular Forum (NSF) today staged protest against Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Umang Narula, in Jammu University demanding immediate reinstatement of suspended Election Assistant Parveen Akhtar, who was suspended following complaint against some officials and a MLA. "The increasing level of corruption in state could be attributed to criminal silence of authorities, who instead of taking action against the corrupt officials, have been targeting the honest officers and the same was the case with Election Assistant Parveen Akhtar, who was penalized by Deputy Commissioner Jammu AK Sahu for refusing to comply with illegal dictates of ADC, AC(G) as posted in DC office," said Qayoom Malik President University Unit of NSF.
"there was a need to conduct through probe of the matter, but it was very unfortunate that a whistleblower was silenced, he said. Appealing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene, University President of NSF said that a thorough probe of entire episode should be conducted.
