| Samohik Shivratri celebrated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 2: Samohik Shivratri was celebrated by Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra in which hundreds of people drawn from various sections of the society attended.
According to press release, the function was presided by TN Pandita, famous saint scholar Anand Swami Pran Nath Bhat Greeeb (Bai Ji) was the chief guest on the occasion and a noted scholar Dr. Jai Krishen Sharma was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the religious significance of Shiv Ratri the chief guest reflected upon its spiritual meaning and said that Shiv Ratri represents the social, cultural and spiritual aspect of man's ascent to higher realms and his final knowledge about his true self. He cautioned about the dilution of the cultural essence of Shiv Ratri and stressed upon unanimity of opinion on its celebration. He elaborated upon the essential elements of the esoteric meaning of various concepts of Shiv Ratri what he said is the greatest cultural legacy of Kashmiri Pandits.
Dr. Jai Krishen Sharma noted scholar said that Shiv Ratri should present coherence and cultural reflectivity of the Pandits. Tracing the celebration of Shiv Ratri to ancient times he said that in modern times it was important that the new generation should be apprised of the cultural significance of Shiv Ratri.
Adding further he said that Shiv Ratri represented thousands of years of cultural continuity of Kashmiri Hindus. A photo exhibition on the festivals of Kashmiri Pandits presented by Bindraban Sher and Hari Krishen Sidha was also displaced on the occasion. This exhibition was highly praised by the viewers. Famous singer Shanti Lal Sidha presented Shiv Bajans. The function was compared by Pradeep Koul Khudbali. |
