Akshay Azad Jammu, Mar 2: The recommencing of advertisement for 1289 posts of Assistant Professors is likely to face more delay, as the amendments in the recruitment rules of Higher Education department, as sought by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, are yet to be done. Sources informed Early Times that the JKPSC authorities in the month of May, 2013 had asked the Higher Education department to amend the recruitment rules in the backdrop of last year's step taken by University Grants Commission (UGC), removing M. Phil from eligibility criteria for a candidate applying for the post of Assistant Professor. "After the lapse of around nine months, the Higher Education Department had send the file pertaining to amendments in recruitment rules to Public Service Commission authorities for vetting of same", sources said, adding that though the PSC has completed the vetting process, but the proposal was yet to return to Higher Education department. Sources further divulged that after getting PSC approval in amended rules, the Higher Education department, would once again forward the posts to PSC authorities for re-advertisement, with new recruitment rules and it would take some more days. Moreover, in the last week of December 2013, Higher Education department had sent a communication letter to Public Service Commission, asking them to re-commence the process of advertisement, following the decision of division bench in favour of M. Phil candidates. But the communication letter sent by Higher Education has stalled the process for time being, sources said, adding, "In the official communication letter sent by Higher Education department during the last week of December to PSC, on one hand Higher Education had asked PSC for re-commencement of advertisement but at the same time, had also made it clear that they would soon challenge the decision of division bench", sources said, adding that in the meantime, Higher Education department had forwarded the amended rules to PSC for vetting. Sources further divulged that the advertisement process might face prolong delay, as the Higher Education department was reportedly mulling to challenge the decision of single bench of High Court, in favour of M.Phil candidates in coming days. |
