Karra lashes out at Farooq for `mahachor' remark
3/2/2014 10:53:28 PM
Et Report
Srinagar, Mar 2: Coming down heavily on the recent statement of National Conference (NC) Patron and union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah wherein he stated that 'Kashmiri chor nahi mahachor hain" (Kashmiris are biggest thieves), senior Peoples' Democratic Party leader and party nominee for ensuing Lok Sabha polls, Tariq Hamid Karra today accused Abdullah family of being habitual of 'degrading' people of Kashmir within and outside the state. By terming people of Kashmir 'biggest thieves', Dr Abdullah must be referring to his own ministers of the state, said Karra in a statement. "Both Omar and Farooq Abdullah have several times termed people of Kashmir as thieves; sometimes they label them Lashkar militants, drug addicts and what not,"he said. Karra said Farooq has maligned the students of getting degrees through cheating. "At several times he has abused the traders of handicrafts and tour operators and publically disgraced them," he said. Making a mention of infamous JKCA scam, Kara said Farooq while addressing people at erstwhile Hazuri Bagh said all his ministrs were thugs. "Dr Abdullah is known for insulting the people of Kashmir and it is his family and he himself that has sold the precious power resources of Kashmir to New Delhi- leaving the people of Kashmir in darkness." Karra said that Dr Farooq should not forget the 'Haji Yousuf Murder case' which had led to revelations about a huge scam of cash for ministerial berths within the National Conference. The PDP candidate for Lok Sabha polls from Srinagar-Budgam constituency observed that Dr Farooq and his son having been chief ministers, ministers in state and at the centre should have learnt the ethics and etiquettes before going public.
"It is unfortunate that Dr Farooq who is a union minister presently and has been the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir in past is still unaware about the manners and etiquettes of speech which are among the basic pre-requisites for any person holding a responsible position.
