Jammu, Mar 19: Residents from Pacca Talab, Rehari chungi, New Rehari, Sarwal, New Plot, Jani Pur and many Localities of the Jammu (West) Assembly constituency staged a unique protest with empty utensils to register their protest against non supply of drinking water for the last five days.
Led by Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) the protestors amid slogans against the PHE Department Executive Engineer Jammu City Division alleged that water supply system has collapsed within the entire Jammu city and also demanded the transfer of the executive engineer. Sunil Dimple addressing the protestors warned PHE authorities in case the supplies not restored by mid night, the irate locals will come to roads and also gherao the Chief Engineer in protest.
Sunil Dimple has refused to accept the offer water tankers because it's a adhoc system and will not go a long way if situation worsens further in coming summer months. Dimple and other speakers urged the PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma and other concerned for their immediate intervention. JWAM speakers also have demanded free of cost water supply.
Rekha Kumari, Amro Devi, Sharda, Krishna Kumari, Jayoti Rani, Shano Devi, Bimla Rani, Ved Parkash, Rajinder Kumar and others also participated in this protest. |
