| NC's exploitative politics has reached its dead end: Mufti | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 5 : Alleging that politics of deceit and exploitation practiced by the National Conference (NC) has reached its dead-end, Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said the Lok Sabha polls have set the momentum for change in Jammu and Kashmir. The people now realise that only PDP can do justice with their mandate for the larger good of the state, he said. The people have started looking towards PDP as a viable regional alternative, Mr Sayeed said while interacting with a delegation from Sonawari Assembly segment of Baramulla Parliamentary constituency, who called on him, here today. He said whether in or outside power, PDP has stood by the people and never compromised their interests unlike others. He said, right from its inception, the party has been advocating the cause of the people of J&K with unflinching consistency. The most daring challenge for PDP, after winning the 2002 election, was to be with our people, show solidarity with them and give them the much-needed sense of security and relief on developmental front, he said and added that after assuming power, PDP, unlike others, not only stuck to its pro-people agenda but pursued the same with perseverance and consistency. He said the signposts of performance of the PDP-led government are visible in every nook and corner of the state and people have recognised the same by voting overwhelmingly for the party candidates in south and central Kashmir in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. Mr Sayeed said the greatest contribution of PDP is that the party through its pro-people policies tried to build people's stakes in peace and economic prosperity. This became the fundamental input for the turn-around in the ground situation in J&K in post-2002 era, he said. He said unfortunately the anarchist and anti-people policies of the present Government have again started pushing J&K into a gloomy scenario of despair and alienation. If anything, the present government would be remembered as the darkest era in J&K for facilitating hundreds of innocent killings, letting loose a reign of repression on youth, ordering wanton arrests, perpetuating fear and sense of insecurity and promoting socio-economic instability. Sayeed complimented PDP cadres for having successfully and effectively carried the party's political and economic agenda to the grassroots level. Having sacrificed their personal interests for the larger objective of ensuring peace, dignity and prosperity for the state and its people, the untiring efforts of the PDP cadres have made this party to become a people's movement of hope, he said and urged people from across the board to contribute in consolidating this movement for change in the larger interest of J&K's peace and stability by voting for senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig in north Kashmir. The people in south and central Kashmir have already delivered their verdict for change, and it's now for the voters of north Kashmir to take this movement to its logical conclusion, he said. |
