| 4 arrested for pasting anti-election posters | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 5: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday arrested four persons for pasting anti-election posters at Singpora area in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.Mehraj-ud-Din Mir son of Ghulam Hassan, Mohammad Jamal Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad, both hailing from Karhama Kunzer, Abdul Rehman Gogree of Hardaboora and Abdul Hamid son of Abdul Gaffar of Archanderhama were arrested after they were pasting election-boycott posters at Singpora area of Pattan. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and started investigations in this regard. Pertinently, police on Saturday last arrested Dr Ghulam Qadir, a scholar and a noted writer after addressing a congregation at local Mosque at Rafiabad asked people to stay away from elections. On April 30, police arrested Bashir Ahmad Wani, alias Qureshi son of Ghulam Mohidin of Kernah, Tanghdar for running anti-election campaign in Lolab area of Kupwara district.The Kupwara district - which falls under Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency - is going for polls onMay 7. |
