| Seeking voting facility for Ladakhi students, DVM submits memorandum to Guv | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 5: Supporting the demand of Ladakhi students for extending voting facility to them in winter capital, a delegation of Duggar Vikas Manch (DVM) along with its associate member organisations submitted a memorandum to NN Vohra, Governor of J&K State through the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to highlight about rights of the Ladakhi Students who are agitating for quite some time for their right to vote. A delegation of Duggar Vikas Manch led by its President Dineshwar Singh Jamwal and accompanied by the Presidents of its associate member organisations including Jagdish Dogra of Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Vinod Kumar Gupta of Central Mahajan Sabha, Pawan Kumar Jain of Shri Aatmanand Jain Sabha, Bharat Hans of Valmiki Sabha, Anoop Aggrwal, General Secretary of Aggarwal Sabha, S Balvinder Singh of Sangarsh RTI Movement and many others called on Divisional Commissioner Jammu. Dineshwar Singh Jamwal while briefing the Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu asked for creating the provisions of Voting for the students of entire Ladakh region, comprising Kargil & Leh districts of the State as majority of these students are studying in Jammu, Chandigarh and Delhi. Through its memorandum, DVM has asked for creating some provisions so that these Ladakhi Students can also have the opportunity of electing the candidate of their choice and become a part of a ongoing democratic process in largest democracy of world Jamwal also said, "Government of India is spending lot of money for encouraging voters for using their right to vote through advertising and different campaigns, it will be very unfair if these students who are agitating for the last so many days are deprived of their voting right.' "If voting provisions can be created for the Kashmiri Pandits, those who have migrated from Kasmir division and are living in different cities of the country, then why same provisions cannot be created for these Ladakhi students, he added. The Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu gave a patient hearing to the members of the delegation, and assured that he will communicate the sentiments of the representatives of Duggar Vikas Manch and its associate members at the earliest to the Governor of J&K State, Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer of J&K State. During their meeting with the Divisional Commissioner Jamwal also asked him for taking an early decision of diffusing the peculiar situation of Jammu city, which has arisen because of a jam log between the Police Department & Bar Association of Jammu. |
