Srinagar, May 5: Reacting sharply to the news reports about the harassment of Kashmiri students at a private university in Noida in Uttar Pradesh (UP) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today criticized the chief minister, Omar Abdullah, for creating a negative image about Kashmiri youth for which they are paying heavy price both in and outside the state. Criticizing the chief minister, Omar Abdullah, PDP youth Incharge said it is, actually, he (Omar) who has created a negative image about Kashmiri youth by demonizing them as stone pelters drug addicts, anti-nationals, criminals, for which they are paying heavy price both in and outside the state. "Omar Abdullah has created a new stereotype Kashmiri image that is seen with suspicion everywhere" he said and added Omar is left with no moral authority to speak on behalf of Kashmiri youth. In a statement the party's youth wing in charge, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, castigated the university authorities and UP administration for not acting tough against the fringe elements who have brazenly abused the Kashmiri students. He added that reoccurrence of such unfortunate incidents are shameful and against the very idea of humanity and democracy. Parra said jingoism and ultra-nationalistic attitude being played in some campuses in the country to harass Kashmiri students is a dangerous trend and is becoming an indicator that of the bad times. Meanwhile he also condemned the slapping of PSA against Waseem Ahmad Sofi of Pulwama. |
