REASI, May 16: The two-day annual inter-school athletics meet of district Reasi, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), got underway here today.
The competition was declared open by Director Sports, SMVDSB Katra, Ashok Kumar, who was chief guest. Col. Mahinder Singh was guest of honour in the opening function.
Speaking to the participants and other distinguished gathering, Ashok Kumar appreciated the efforts put in by district officer, Dr Sawarn Singh in promoting sports at the school level in the district.
In all, 120 male and female fencers drawn from 15 educational institutions, in twin age groups of under-14 and under-17, are taking part in this competition.
Earlier, during the day, preliminary round of competition took place on the day-one of the event.
Prominent among others present were Pardeep Gupta, AK Chadda, Rakesh Sagotra and Ashwani Katoch. |
