| NC defeated, people rejoice fall of Abdullahs | | | Shakeel A Khan SRINAGAR, May 16: Pal of gloom has descended on ruling National Conference as all the three seats of the valley have gone to opposition People's Democratic Party hinting at strong anti incumbency against the ruling alliance. Kashmiries are upbeat with this turn around and they believe that the hostage drama of the NC is over as people have successfully voted for the change. People across the valley were seen absorbed in their television sets in anticipation of defeat of Farooq Abdullah from Srinagar parliamentary constituency. "The NC leaders have taken the people for granted. These leaders are misled and they live in the fools' paradise. Today's verdict is the writing on the wall for them and they should not bother us anymore," said some people at Ganderbal while sharing their ideas with the EARLY TIMES. The 2014 parliamentary elections have proved to be a tsunami for the coalition partners with its stalwarts, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Farooq Abdullah, losing the elections with big margins. With BJP making gains in Jammu and PDP in the valley, National conference is facing serious constraint of political space for itself in the current scenario. |
