| 31550 voters exercised NOTA in JK | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 16: It has finally come to fore that 31550 voters across Jammu and Kashmir had exercised the option of NOTA (None of the Above) during the polls. The highest number of 10,478 voters across Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat pressed NOTA buttons instead of supporting a particular candidate. Voters in Anantnag which saw close contest between PDP's Mehbooba Mufti and NC's Mehboob Beg came second as 5936 voters opted for NOTA. In Baramulla where PDP's Muzaffar Hussain Baig defeated sitting MP of the National Conference 4568 voters had exercised NOTA option. Approximately five thousand voters exercised the NOTA option in Srinagar from where Dr Farooq Abdullah contested against PDP Tariq Hamid Karra and lost. 4382 voters pushed the NOTA button in Jammu while in Ladakh where BJP's Thupstan Chhewanf won by a wafer thin margin of 36 votes a total number of 1207 voters had opted for NOTA option. |
