| Celebrations break at BJP Office, NC-Cong HQs grievously quiet | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 16: While the activists of Bhartiya Janata Party were in upbeat mood and dancing to the tunes of 'dhol beats' to celebrate the victory of BJP's victory, the scene at the offices of the National Conference and Congress was completely different as they looked somber. After winning both Jammu-Poonch and Doda-Udhampur seats, BJP workers took out a victory rally from outside the Government Polytechnic College. BJP candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma, who defeated Madan Lal Sharma (Congress) was garlanded by the party workers. The victory rally after passing through various bazaars, culminated at party headquarters where the activists danced, burst f crackers and distributed sweets. The ecstatic scenes at BJP office were reminiscent of 1999 when Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and Vaid Vaishno Dutt of BJP were declared elected from Udhampur- Doda-Kathua and Jammu Poonch Lok Sabha seats. Meanwhile to its sharp contrast headquarters of Congress and National Conference in winter capital of state wore deserted look since morning when the trends started to pour in. By afternoon, when the BJP's hurricane ate up all what was coming its way and the downfall of the two coalition allies looked evident as the former union Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's People Democratic Party (PDP) routed NC equally in valley like BJP did with Congress in Jammu region, barring few small cadre no prominent leaders were seen in these offices. |
