Jammu, May 16 : The PDP victory on three Valley seats was reported by Early Times on March 22 in a news report titled Result of previous LS elections suggest an edge for PDP, Gained 11.9 percent voters in 2009". In the said report Early Times had applied voting share as an indicator to suggest the victory of PDP from three valley seats respectively. It was mentioned that vote share of all political parties in the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir had fallen when a compare was drawn out between two elections of 2004 and 2009 except People's Democratic Party which has shown a gain of vote shares by about 8.11%. The report further mentioned that In 2004 Polls, the polling percentage was about 35 percent in the state whereas in 2009 it increased to 39.65 percent due to improvement in militancy related incidents due to Coalition of PDP and Congress. PDP in 2004 fielded three candidates and Mehbooba Mufti claimed one seat of Anantnag losing two seats where the party was runner-up with a total vote share of 11.94 percent but in 2014 with no winning candidate party gained the vote share by about 8.11 percent and reached 20.05 percent of total vote share where party's three candidates Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and Peer Mohammad Hussain were runner up losing three seats of Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag to Sharif-ud-Din-Shariaq, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Dr. Mehboob Beg respectively. The story also reads that for other major political personalities including BJP, Indian National Congress, JKNC, and Independents, the voting percentage decreased. For Indian National Congress it was 27.83% vote share in 2004 which reached at 24.67% in 2009. National Conference with 22.02% votes in 2004 reached to a lower mark of 19.11% voting share. Similarly with 37 independents in fray during 2004 and 28 in 2009 and one seat victory in both the polls, the voting percentage decreased from 7.38% in 2004 to 6.28% in 2009 out of total 100 percent voting. And counting all these statistical figures, Early Times had reported these three seats will go in PDP's kitty and same was the opinion of majority of Political Pundits. |
