Protests trigger at Kreeri after local youth misbehave with girls

BARAMULLA, July 2: Massive protests erupted after four local youth allegedly misbehaved and tried to abduct two girls in Tehsil Kreeri of district Baramulla in north Kashmir on Wednesday.
According to sources, "Hundreds of girl students in Kreeri Thesil of district Baramulla today held massive demonstration against the incident that took place soon after the school got over on Tuesday. There were stray stone hurling incidents as the school resumed today.
An eyewitness said, "Angry mob of Kreeri,Thindma, Hail,Tapper staged anti-police protests alleging inaction while market remained shut and traffic also remained suspended for several hours.
Local youth Adnan Zahoor Bukhari,Abdul Wahid Bukhari,Sheikh Shahnawaz, and Dawood Rashid misbehaved and tried to abduct three girls of class 11th of Government Higher Secondary School Kreeri near Wisdom Public School Thindma Kreeri this morning after which people of an area staged massive protests eyewitness said.
An 11th class female student of Higher Secondary School Kreeri Pattan Razia D/O Ghulam Mohiud-Din Lone told Early Times that four debauches came down at 3:20 pm from their vehicle near Wisdom Public School Thindma Kreeri area when we were on way to our home Thindma. "They not only misbehaved with us but tried to abduct us. I somehow managed to save myself from those drug addicts". She said the Four boys Adnan, Wahid,Shahnawaz and Dawood stopped them but they left as some locals were passing by.
The traffic in the area remained disrupted for several hours after which Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDPO), Pattan, Syed Fayaz Ahmed rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. He informed them that a case against the accused youth has been registered assuring them that the other accused will be arrested soon.
After the assurance on the part of police, people called off the protest but threatened to launch protest again if the other three accused were not arrested by Friday morning.
Station House Officer Kreeri Ghulam Nabi told Early Times that protestors damaged the window panes of Special Operation Group camp (SOG) and also blocked Srinagar-Baramulla road. "We exercised maximum restraint and only busted few tear-smoke shells to disperse the mob," he said.
Meanwhile, police sources identified the main accused as Syed Adnan Bukhari son of Syed Zahoor Ahmad Bukhari resident of Upper Pir Mohalla Kreeri against whom FIR under No 41/2014 under section 294,506 RPC has been registered.
Police Station Kreeri has launched a manhunt to nab the other accused.
