Jammu, July 2: As a part of the Vanmahotsav celebration, about 55 students from Air Force school (AFS) Jammu visited the Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary to get first hand exposure to the flora and fauna in natural habitat.School spokesperson stated that the Vanmahotsav celebrations at school began with plantation of a sapling in the school campus by Vikesh Sandhal Principal Air Force School followed by the tree plantation drive in and around the school. "Meantime the visit to wildlife sanctuary was arranged to sensitize the students about the importance of our natural resources and the interdependence of man and animals on forests, he added.The enthusiastic students trekked the reserve till Farol Beat enjoying every moment of the nature walk and collecting pine cones etc on the way. The students also visited Sidhra Park. Earlier, the students were received by Devinder Kumar Mangotra,Range Officer, Roshan Lal and Mohd Maqbool ,Block Officers of the Sanctuary.Later, an audio-visual documentary was also screened for the students to generate awareness about the animal life in the sanctuary; like the spotted leopard, blackbuck, peacocks etc and the need to conserve and protect the animals and forests. The students were escorted by Shivani Oswal, Ravi Kumar and Ms Navdeep Kour (Coordinator). |
