SRINAGAR, July 02: Dominating almost all the weight categories, Haryana girls were all set to take home overall championship trophy in the 33rd Boys and 17th Girls Sub-Junior National Wrestling Championship underway at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, here today. Similarly, in boys section, Maharasthra and Haryana were neck of neck for the overall title. Since a couple of final bouts in both girls and boys categories were yet to be decided on the closing day today, the overall titles were yet to be decided by the technical penal. However, the chief guest, Minister for Sports gave away medals to winners of those weight categories decided today. Additional Director General of Police, PHQ, Dr S P Vaid was guest of honour.

Earlier, batting first, FCC set a target of 159 runs losing five wickets. Sonu (57) hit a fine half century, followed by Raju and KK, who added 27 and 26 runs respectively. From WCC, Parmeet Singh took two wickets. Simran Singh, KD Singh and Charanjit Singh shared one wicket each. In reply, WCC chased the total making 160 runs for five wickets that too sparing 2.5 overs of their innings. JAMMU, July 02: Semifinals position has been cleared with the entry of Abrar Cricket Club in the last four stages of the ongoing Titu Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Model School Satwari ground, here today. Other teams making into the semifinals are host Azad Cricket Club, Evershine Cricket Club and Star Cricket Club. Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for July six at the same venue, Evershine shall take on Abrar Cricket Club at 8 am while Azad Club shall face Star Club at 2 pm. Earlier, in the last quarterfinal, played today, Abrar Club defeated New Challenger Cricket Club (NCCC) by 23 runs. Sailing on brilliant century from Amit, Abrar Club set a target of 205 runs losing six wickets, which, in reply, NCCC could not chase and bowled out for 181 runs in 18.5 overs. Amit made 102 runs facing 70 deliveries while Satish contributed 31 runs. From NCCC, Adi took two wickets, followed by Ram Dayal, Sahil and Nishu shared apiece each. Later, New Challenger well maintained the required run rate but could not control their nerves when giving finishing touch to their innings resulting into end of the innings at 181 runs in 18.5 overs. The series is being organised jointly by the Christian Sports Org and JK police , under the overall supervision of Rajesh Gill Former Ranji player and president of Christian Sports Org.. The Second match of the series was played between the teams of CSO XI and NH Cricket Academy XI . Due to rain and bad whether the match was fixed for 8 overs. The NHCA XI batting first scored 53 in 8 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.Max Gill scored 17 runs ,nikhal scored 11 runs for the team . Ivan was main bowler of CSO XI who took two wickets. The match was officiated by Ajay Mattoo and pawan mooman while the scorer was Gavin. Rajesh gill Former Ranji player was the chief guest on the second match accompanied by David Mattoo manager of the CSO .
Army hands over inverter, water coolers to School Early Times Report
Jourian, July 2: Crossed Swords Division Army today handed over inverters and water coolers to Government Primary School, Kandyal and Dhanger, Government Middle School, Rakh Malal and Dhanwal Camp and Govt High School, Chak Malal. According to press release, since the village falls in the border area, there had been lack of drinking water and electricity facility in the schools. These problems were projected by concerned school & village authorities during various liaison meetings. Keeping their needs in mind army has provided Inverter & Water coolers to the Schools. On the occasion Principal of Govt Primary School, Kandyal and Dhanger, Govt Middle School, Rakh Malal and Dhanwal Camp and Govt High School, Chak Malal and Sarpanch of these villages appreciated Army's efforts and conveyed their heartfelt expression. |
