| Unemployed Engineers held massive protest in Kishtwar, block NH | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, July 2: Unemployed Engineers and Diploma holders of Kishtwar district today held a strong protest against the management of 850 MW Rattle Hydro Electrical Power Project for denying jobs to the local unemployed youths of Kishtwar District. Protestors blocked National highway outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar for more than four hours causing lot of inconvenience to the general public and disrupt normal vehicular movement on this ever busy road resulted into traffic chaos forcing police, Assistant Labour Commissioner Kishtwar and administration to intervene into the matter to end the two days pandemonium created due to protest of the Engineers. They said that despite getting assurance from all quarters, they are still unemployed and alleged that project management engaged outsiders at the cast of local unemployed youths. The protestors continued to raise the slogans before Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Nazir Ahmed Ganie and Assistant Commissioner labour (ALC) Zakir Hussain Wani intervened and pacify the agitating unemployed technocrats and motivate them for talks with administration. During the course of the meeting with DC Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan, unemployed technocrats restore to large scale resentment against GVK, L&T and administration alleging discriminatory attitude of GVK in proving employment to the skilled persons especially unemployed engineers. After giving patience hearing to the demands raised by the unemployed technocrats, DC Kishtwar fixed the meeting between GVK, L&T, unemployed technocrats tomorrow at 11 AM in DC Office Kishtwar and directed ALC to take up the matter with concern agency. |
