Former MP's brother accused of land grabbing, Police of inaction

Kathua, July 27: Even as the former MP from Kathua- Doda -Udhampur, Lal Singh has been accused of encroaching state land and the case is being heard by competent courts, similar allegations have been leveled against his brother, identified as Sohan Singh Bhullu S/O Swarn Singh in Kathua.
One Sharat Chander Nagra accompanied by his wife and son in a press conference here alleged that his 21 Kanals of land vide Khasra number 839/777 was being forcibly captured by the brother of ex M.P Lal Singh, who along with others has been trespassing his land and they were being threatened by the land mafia repeatedly. "They have forcefully cut various trees on the land repeatedly threaten us" Nagra alleged adding that Police and civil administration is under political pressure of the former MP and his family and various officials have privately admitted that under the political influence of ex M.P Lal Singh, they were unable to take action.
Nagra said that on 01/05/2014 between when he along with laborers were harvesting wheat, the land grabbers forcibly entered the premises and looted 25 Quintals of wheat. When the victims approached the Police, they were asked to strike a compromise and despite repeated requests no FIR was filed. The victims said that they have complained to the administration and Deputy Commissioner number of occasions but the administration is indifferent to their plight. It is in this helplessness that they were constrained to address this press conference and pleaded the general public to raise voice against such elements.
