| Infighting in BJP likely to intensify over allotment of tickets for Assembly polls | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27: The infighting in the BJP is likely to intensify in the coming days when the final selection process to allot tickets for Assembly polls starts. The party which is upbeat with the success in the Parliamentary elections is attracting many people, which is likely to sideline the veterans. The party is intensifying its campaign to attract more people to come in its fold. Many people, who are successful in their respective careers have already joined and many more are likely to join soon. The people affiliated with the party say though it welcomes development yet at the time of allotting tickets the new comers should not be given preference over the party veterans. But, this is what is likely to happen. Party sources said many newcomers who are joining the party are joining for its ideology but with the hope of getting ticket as they feel the party could perform in the coming elections. "A first timer had already been given ticket and he has joined the PMO. People feel that they can have their way like he had. There is a very strong possibility that the people who may try to approach this person, who it is being presumed is very close to the person heading the country," said the senior BJP leader. There is already resentment in the state unit with the way newcomers have been given important positions and they are already dictating the terms. The old timers say that party in its new developed fetish for articulate and presumed intelligent faces is more harming itself than making it strong. "Party should be careful about new comers. It must first check if the people joining the party have strong belief in its ideology or just coming for the sake of power, If it continues unchecked then BJP will become just like Congress and it would be doing more disservice to it than the assumed service," said a senior BJP leader. |
