Jammu, Sept 4: Dogra College of Education, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Jammu celebrated its 20th annual day function today in the College premises with great pomp and show. According to press release, the proceedings of the programme began with lighting of traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and the presentation of various cultural items. Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal Dogra College of Education which was followed by presentation of Annual Report by Prof. B D Damral, Director-cum- Principal, Dogra College of Education. Th .Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister of Higher Education J&K State, and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust presided over the function. In his presidential remarks, he stressed upon the role of productive teachers in shaping the personality of the young students in the desired directions. Mubarak Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Samba was the Guest of Honour who also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon the role of teacher education institutions during the present times. He advised the students to develop the necessary skills and aptitude during their training period so that they can serve the cause of school education in the best way. On this occasion highly attractive and colourful cultural programme including Fusion Dance (Dogri, Ladakhi, Kashmiri and Gojri), Rajasthani Dance, Qawali, Punjabi Folk Dance (Gidda) andGroup Song, captivating the audience, was presented by the students of the College. Prizes and mementos were also distributed among the outstanding students of the session. The 09th issue of the Annual College Magazine "SHIKSHAK" was also released on the occasion. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks moved by Mrs BelaThakur, Sr. Lecturer of the College. |
