| BJP spokespersons lack coordination | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 4: Though BJP has a battery of spokespersons who were appointed last month, there is total lack of coordination in party leadership with each spokesperson coming out with daily statements to score over the others. Earlier, the party had two spokespersons in the state unit but with eyes on coming Assembly elections BJP senior leaders announced seven spokespersons for the state unit last month. And to outwit each other every spokesman is coming out with daily statements making even difficult for the media to choose which to use and which not. According to sources, due to lack of coordination there are sometimes statements on same issue by two to three spokespersons of the party. However, a government officer who joined the Party during recent Lok Sabha elections and was appointed as one of its spokespersons has shown no interest in the post and since his appointment he did not issue any statement as a spokesperson of the party. Sources said having reservations about his appointment as spokesperson this senior leader of the party had made it clear that it was not a suitable post befitting his status as a senior State Government officer. Reacting to the post given to him during an informal chat with some senior Party colleagues, this ex-government officer said that he deserves to be elected to Rajya Sabha and was not interested in any party post. Sources said that during this one month since his appointment as spokesperson of the party he did not come with any statement on behalf of the party. Sources said other spokespersons continued to issue daily statements indicating that there was no coordination among them. Some times on a single issue separate statements come from two to three spokespersons making it totally difficult for media to decide which one to use and which not, sources added. Sources said even some senior leaders in the State unit were also not happy with appointment of over half a dozen spokespersons in such a small state of J&K and apprised the High Command of the same. These leaders have made it clear to Party High Command that appointment of over six spokespersons will lead to confusion and contradictory statements making the position of party awkward before the media, sources added. But paying a scant attention to the suggestions of senior party leaders in the state, the high command went ahead with the appointment of over six spokespersons in the State unit of the Party, sources |
