Srinagar, Sept 4: The Government of India has approved the provisions of "ESIC Management Quota" for admission to Undergraduate Medical course, i.e. MBBS, in ESIC Medical Colleges for the Academic Session 2013-14 for wards of Insured Employees (Persons) under the ESI Act. Arvind Kumar, Regional Director, Employees' State Insurance Corporation, Jammu & Kashmir Region today in summer capital -Srinagar while informing this said, "The 'Insured Person' shall be an 'employee' as defined in the ESI Act, 1948." "He/she should have been in continuous insurable employment under the ESI Scheme for a period of five years as on 1st January 2014, the year of the of admission and should have paid at least 78 days of contribution in each contribution period during this five years period preceding till 30 September, 2013," he said further informing, "a legitimate child who is wholly dependent on the earnings of the insured person and who is receiving education till he or she attains the age of twenty-one years or an unmarried legitimate daughter." The details of contribution period for the Academic Session 2014-15 shall be for 1st April, 2009 to 30th September, 2013, he said. He informed that the ESI Insured Employees, whose was has appeared for pre-medical entrance test and scored qualifying mark and who are eligible for availing of the ESIC Management Quota for admission of their ward may approach ESIC, Regional Office, Jammu for necessary certificate which will be issued by the Regional authority after verifying the details of the relevant period to enable for admission in undergraduate courses (MBBS/BDS). He stated that available seats of "ESIC Management Quota" in various States will be pooled on 'All India Basis' and allotted, among the wards of Insured persons (IPs) through merit cum preference basis for which minimum eligibility criteria for admission will be as per MCI regulations. Regional Director also stated that ESIC is in process of tying up with Ramzan Hospital, Gogzibagh, Srinagar and Amritsar Eye Centre in Florence Hospital campus for cashless secondary and eye treatment facilities for the insured employees of ESI Scheme in Srinagar, besides with Chopra Nursing Home, Udhampur, where ESI's own infrastructure for secondary treatment is not available.. |
