Ealry Times Report

Jammu, Nov 16 : Demanding removal of Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) election Commission team, Scholars of Jammu University today staged a strong protest demonstration here at Governor Office alleging authorities of not following set procedure while electing the new panel for JURSEA.
Around two-dozen research scholars assembled in front of Chancellor Gate and staged protest demonstration, amid raising slogans against Vice Chancellor Professor RD Sharma. The protesters were also criticizing other officials of University who were members of the committee, constituted to hold elections of JURSEA.
Addressing media persons, NSF President Sukhdev Singh said that within three days, varsity authorities have taken more than six-seven decisions and further cancelled all.
"The authorities has made new rules to conduct election in which the mobile phones is not allowed at that time when they caste vote and if any one who cast vote through valid paper the time will be given only few minutes" they said and demanding that immediate dissolution of the election team and fresh notification for holding open election.
"It shows that varsity authorities want to give benefits to some blue eyed candidates and sensing their failure they have been changing decisions time and again", said Singh.
He further said that varsity Election Commission team had decided that the ballot papers would be distributed on November 12 and that too only during working hours but when the scholars reached the office of Dean Student Welfare (DSW) for ballot papers, they were given excuses and were asked to come on next day from 11 to 1 PM till November 16.
Surprisingly, on the same day another meeting was held and it was decided in the meeting that instead of issuing ballot papers till November 16, the ballot papers would only be given on November 13 and that too from 1 to 4 PM.
Singh further said the newly appointed Vice Chancellor RD Sharma has failed to control the administration and every official has been taking decisions as per their whims, creating problems for students and scholars.
They further appealed Chancellor NN Vohra for immediate removal of Vice Chancellor RD Sharma and immediately appoint some responsible person, having experience to handle the administration.
Among those who were present in the protest included, Sunny Babber, Barket Ali, Altaf Amhed, Manzoor, Gopal Singh,Papinder Singh, Pawan Sharma, Akshey Kumar, JV Singh, Qayoom Malik, Rahul Kumar, Amjad, Zulfi Singh,Reshikesh Rana, Jagdeep Singh, Parvinder Singh, Amit Kumar,PP Singh, Joginder Singh, Javed Iqbal, Sarvm Butt, Mukhtiar, Vijay and others.
