PDP-BJP becoming compatible; could form Govt soon | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 31: Uncertainty over formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir may soon be over as PDP and BJP are inching close to an alliance. The talks have started at the highest level and sources divulge that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had flown to New Delhi this week and had met the Prime Minister. A lot of hectic deliberations are going on between the two parties over government formation. The PDP is facing internal dissension and BJP is also getting anxious as delay in government formation is not giving positive signals to their respective constituencies. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti dropped a hint when she said though as per the media reports the party has support of 55 MLAs, but her party is not interested in forming the government just for the sake of it. Sources said the party is serious on forming of government but it needs time and space to make people understand in the Kashmir that party is not dropping its contentious issues and is not pleading with the BJP just to be in power. "The Stand of the party has given a message that it's not just power hungry party and on the issue of forming the government it will be on equal level where both parties understand the sensibilities of each other," said the senior leader. The two parties are taking time deliberately to fine tune the agreement. The PDP in 2002 had also taken time to form the government and it was because of this that it could deliver on the ground. The party leadership believes that the BJP is also showing some signs of sensibility to the PDP's agenda and it is for this reason that it has not given any sign of forming government with the NC. "BJP knows that NC can't be trusted. It was the NC which passed the resolution on the autonomy despite being part of the NDA and when Omar was the Minister. They understand the political DNA of the NC, so they understand our stand also and are thus mellowing down from their stated position on contentious issues"," said a PDP leader. |
