251ST AMC day celebrated at Military hospital | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 31: The Army Medical Corps day celebrated its 251st Anniversary with fervour at Military Hospital, Jammu on Wednesday. Functions were spread over three weeks concluded with the event of "Pagal Gymkhana" and "Bara Khana". According to press release, Brigadier Mohan Harjai, encouraged to work with renewed vigor and commitment to provide even better healthcare and succor to all the needy patients. "Recently, the hospital had an active role in the Jammu and Kashmir floods "Operation Megh Rahat" where in one medical team from hospital participated in the relief work. All supplies of medical logistics towards Srinagar were also coordinated by the hospital," he added. He also said that the hospital has been conducting a number of health activities, including medical camps for locals at Thanamandi, Rajouri and Pallanwala during which 800 patients were screened for various diseases and treated free of cost. Multispecialty medical camp was held at Jagti (Nagrota) and an eye camp was held at Akhnoor where 112 patients were operated free of cost for cataract. He lauded that the 166 Military Hospital was unique in many ways like it was the largest hospital in the plains of J&K, very convenient and centrally located with all services under one roof, there was highest number of deliveries in this hospital in Armed Forces Medical Hospitals, up gradation of one labour room to Maternity OT, smallest baby with extremely low birth weight (904 grams) managed at this hospital and survived, smallest baby with prematurity (27 weeks) managed in neonatal intensive care and discharged to home, youngest baby operated at 18 hrs of life, exchange blood transfusion in neonatal jaundice and availability of facilities of neonatal ventilator. |
