JAMMU, Jan 23: As the 6-year long "misrule" of the National Conference- Congress coalition has come to an end skeletons have started tumbling out. A recent revelation which has come to fore is that the previous regime committed alleged irregularities in postings of doctors and preferred "influential juniors" over seniors.
Sources told Early Times that some of the blue eyed medical officers of Health and Family Welfare department included Dr Anjum Mirza, who is on serial number 775 in the seniority list but has been appointed as Medical Superintendent Rajiv Gandhi Leprosy Hospital Jammu. Dr. Anjum Mirza was close to former Health Minister Shabir Khan, who went out of way to give him a plum posting.
Moreover, another one is Dr Arun Sharma, who stands at serial number 709 in the seniority list, was appointed as Nodal Officer National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). Earlier he was posted as In-charge Superintendent Sarwal Hospital and was later posted as Nodal Officer, only due to his close political links.
Another one is Dr Shamim Mir, who has been posted as Controller Stores. Dr. Shamim stands at serial number 269, but has been holding the post equivalent to Assistant Director.
Dr Poonam Mahajan, who stands at serial number 255, has been holding the post of Medical Superintendent Police Hospital Jammu.
Dr Kartar Chand is another such Assistant Surgeon, who is presently holding the post of incharge Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Samba and is on serial number 141 in the seniority list. Astonishingly, Dr Kartar Chand had not even worked as Block Medical Officer (BMO) but was directly posted as CMO. Dr. Kartar Chand, who is close to former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, had worked as MO Stores, Director Health Services Jammu, MO Store Government Medical College Jammu and MO Stores SMGS Hospital.
These aforesaid are only few from numerous, who have been preferred over seniors, owing to their political affiliations. Some of the seniors are Dr Narinder Singh, who stands at serial number 25, posted at Police Training Center (PTC) Udhampur, Dr Rajesh Gandotra at serial number 28 has been posted at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Dr Pritam Katoch, has been posted as Assistant Director in Health Education Jammu, Dr Dimpal M Singh, at serial number 15 has been posted at block Dansal beside others. |
