After Vakil, Charak takes on Mir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 7: Although newly elected president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Ghulam Ahmed Mir is claiming to unite the faction ridden party, statement issued by former Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak is an indication that infighting in the Congress is likely to be intensified in the coming days. Addressing a public meeting at Bishnah, Charak, according to a handout issued today, assured Congress leaders and workers to take up their genuine concern of reviewing the decision of recent nomination of new PCC president with the High Command at the earliest so that party is saved from further erosion. Charak has launched a direct attack on party high command and maintained that decision to appoint G A Mir as PCC chief was unilateral without taking state unit into confidence. After observing serious and genuine resentment of party workers against formation of new PCC chief he assured workers and leaders that if the immediate proper steps are not taken to review the decision by the High Command, a strong delegation of the party leaders will proceed to Delhi to meet the High Command to explain and aware them about the real ground situation taken place due to their unilateral decision. Speaking in the convention, former Minister and detractor of Mir, Abdul Gani Vakil explained in details about the resentment brewing in the rank and file of the party in Kashmir province also regarding the installation of new PCC Chief and said if the High Command fails to take action for rectifying the blunder in the formation of PCC the party will be totally finished and the decision will prove disastrous for the party. Charak's today statement has added fuel in the infighting of Congress party. Earlier only Abdul Gani Vakil was opposing appointment of Mir as PCC chief now Charak has also joined him. Both Charak and Vakil are considered as close confident of Ghulam Nabi Azad and their open revolt against Mir would fuel factionalism in the party which performed very badly in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. It is observed that some leaders, who were ignored in the recently formed PCC, would likely to join hands with Charak and Vakil to intensify campaign against Mir. |
